Rosie: Beauty & Brains!
UPDATE: Rosie has joined her new family! We are so happy for this wonderful family and for Rosie.
Rosie, aka Stannyfield & Legacyk's Lady Marmelade, is a beautiful, sweet, adolescent GSP at just under 12 months old. She is looking for her own family so she can enjoy one-on-one attention.
As I explained in some detail in my blog about Poppy the Welsh Springer Spaniel, Rosie is the result of a carefully planned breeding with OFA health tested parents, and has been raised following evidence-based practices, socialized and given the opportunities to grow into a balanced, sound and confident adult. She is an optimistic dog, enjoying her time with dogs and people and exploring the world around her.
Rosie was temperament tested at seven weeks old and as we've raised her for the past year, we have made observations about her temperament and behaviour as she has grown. Here are a few things to know about Rosie:
She is an extremely biddable young dog, eager to work with her people, especially for food rewards. She loves her humans and will be a fun dog to engage in dog sports, obedience and any other activities in which training is involved.
Rosie is courageous, curious and confident, the three c's. A family who enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, spending time at the cottage and more will enjoy living with her.
Rosie is comfortable around other dogs and kids. Although we don't have children, she has been socialized around them and of course with other dogs.
She has a grouping of traits that are well suited in a hunting dog. A few of these include a strong scent focus and a nice balance of environmental and people focus. She has an extremely high retrieve desire and is very birdy.
Within the context of GSP energy levels, Rosie is middle of the road.
Her family will go home with a more detailed report on Rosie's temperament and structural evaluations.
Rosie's sire is AMCH Legacyk Virago's One Man Band "Bishop" and AMCH Pinecrest's Little Bit of Magic, FDJ "Smidge". Both have lovely temperaments, which they have definitely shared with their puppies, including Rosie. She was co-bred by Emily MacKinnon (me!) of Stannyfield Shorthairs & Welsh and Nancibeth Clements of Legacyk Gun Dogs.
