Our Approach
At Stannyfield, we strive to breed balanced, healthy dogs, closely guided by our breeds’ Breed Standards (German Shorthaired Pointer Breed Standard & Welsh Springer Spaniel Breed Standard ). We care deeply about preserving our breeds’ original purpose through responsible breeding practices and stewardship, working very hard to breed German Shorthaired Pointers and Welsh Springer Spaniels of sound temperament and conformation. As important is selecting puppy families who are an excellent fit with us, our program and our dogs so that their journey is not only special, but rewarding and exceptional.
Breeding & Puppy Rearing
We follow evidence-based, best practices in all aspects of our breeding program-from selecting and raising breeding parents, breeding and caring for our dams, through to rearing confident, balanced puppies.
We are committed to the pursuit of growth and knowledge through quality continuing education.
Our puppies are lovingly raised in our home amongst the people and dogs that live here. They are given positive experiences as they grow to support the development of a solid foundation for future growth.
Our breeding dogs are health-screened by veterinary specialists, proof of which is available.
We carefully plan litters with specific goals in mind that fit into our larger breeding program planning.
Before they go home, our puppies are vet-checked, microchipped, have their first vaccinations, CKC-registered, dew claws are removed and GSP tails are docked.
Working with Puppy Families
We fully support our puppy families from the start of the screening process, and throughout the life of their dog.
We have a contract that includes a health warranty.
We are strongly committed to educating our puppy families via a number of channels to support their puppy/dog raising journeys.
Clear, transparent and consistent communication is really important to us. Whether someone is on our wait list or has several dogs from us, we want to be a valued, clear source of information for our families.
Our puppies are evaluated following Avidog’s Puppy Evaluation Test as well as a structural evaluation. This, along with our family screening process gives us comprehensive data on which to base puppy-family matches.
We have an online, supportive community that enjoys shared experiences and communication on different topics.
